Ancient Problems Require Ancient Solutions

There’s nothing new under the sun.
“What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.”
— Ecclesiastes 1:9 (ESV)
The Crisis We Face Isn’t New
Today’s world feels like it’s unraveling.
- Families are disintegrating.
- Churches are lukewarm, unsure of who they are or what they’re called to do.
- Deception spreads faster than truth.
- People are more connected than ever—but spiritually isolated and numb.
- The masses aren’t just distracted from God—they’re disinterested in Him.
- The noise of the world drowns out the voice of the Lord.
We rush past burning bushes, sacred moments, and still waters without ever stopping.
And then we ask:
Where is the power? Where is the fire? Where is the presence of God?
But we’re asking these eternal questions while grasping for temporal solutions:
- Modern tools
- Digital branding
- Production values
- Business strategies disguised as ministry
These methods may be clever, but they can’t awaken the dead. They carry the appearance of godliness—but deny its power.
“...having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.”
— 2 Timothy 3:5
They were never meant to restore the glory of God—because they never created it.
Modern Problems Are Actually Ancient
What we face today isn’t new—it’s ancient. And only ancient solutions will prevail.
The spiritual rot we see in this generation mirrors the rebellion of every generation before us.
“Thus says the LORD: ‘Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.’”
— Jeremiah 6:16
Consider the Parallels:
Churches That Seem Alive but Are Spiritually Dead
“You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead.” — Revelation 3:1
Many churches are polished, professional, and performance-driven—but they lack holy fire, purity, and fear of the Lord.
Love for the World Over Love for Christ
“Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me…” — 2 Timothy 4:10
We long for platforms, applause, comfort, and ease. But friendship with the world is enmity with God.
Counterfeit Worship and Convenient Altars
Jeroboam said, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem…” — 1 Kings 12:28
He built golden calves and offered compromise in the name of convenience. We do the same when we replace costly obedience with crowd-friendly religion.
Spiritual Deception Wrapped in Appealing Language
“Did God really say…?” — Genesis 3:1
The serpent's words echo in modern false teachings. Rebranded lies. Soft rebellion. "Christian" in label, Luciferian in substance.
The Early Church Knew What We’ve Forgotten
The Church in Acts turned the world upside down without:
- Marketing campaigns
- Branding consultants
- Fog machines or stage lighting
- Audience analytics
- Sermons crafted to retain attention spans
Instead, they were marked by:
- Prayer that shook buildings and opened prisons
- Fasting that tore down strongholds
- Scripture that pierced the soul like a double-edged sword
- Fellowship that cost everything but gave more
- Witness that bled, burned, and overcame
- The Holy Spirit, unquenched, ungrieved, and unashamed
They didn’t just attend church.
They were the Church.
They didn’t just preach Christ.
They carried His cross.
The Ancient Tools That Still Work
The enemy may use new platforms, but he peddles the same ancient deceptions. So we must reach for the ancient weapons of God:
The Fear of the Lord — wisdom that sets everything in order
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” — Proverbs 9:10
Genuine Repentance and Pursuit of Holiness
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8
Silence and Stillness — breaking the addiction to noise
“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and trust shall be your strength.” — Isaiah 30:15
The Jesus Prayer — anchoring our souls in mercy
“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”
A cry that echoes through centuries of repentance and healing.
Fasting — for spiritual authority, not physical results
“This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting.” — Mark 9:29
The Way Forward Is the Way Back
We don’t need to be more innovative. We need to be more obedient.
We don’t need to be more relevant. We need to be more reverent.
We don’t need to be more visible. We need to be more holy.
“For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.”
— 2 Corinthians 10:4
Let us return to the ancient paths:
- The fear of the Lord
- The name above all names
- The blood of the Lamb
- The power of the Cross
- The communion of the saints
- The authority of Scripture
- The groaning of intercessors
- The simplicity of fasting and repentance
A Final Call to the Remnant
It is not too late—but the hour is late.
God is calling—not the casual but the consecrated. Not the crowd-chasers but the cross-bearers.
If we try to face this hour with convenience Christianity, we will fall.
If we rely on the flesh, we will be devoured by wolves.
But if we cry out in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most High God—
If we humble ourselves and return to the Ancient of Days—
He will move again.
He will raise up a holy remnant.
He will set His fire upon us.
“Return to me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts.” — Malachi 3:7
A Prayer of Return
Ancient of Days,
We return to You—not with shallow formulas, but with broken, desperate hearts.
Teach us the sacred paths of fasting, stillness, holiness, and holy fear.
Cleanse us from our clever distractions.
Burn away everything that lacks Your presence.
Revive us again. Make us a people of spiritual fire.
In the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Most High God—Amen.
Let This Be Your Declaration:
There is nothing new under the sun—
But there is Someone eternal above it.
His name is Yahweh.
He is the Most High God.
And He is calling us home.
