Spiritual Reality Check
Temptation used to live in dark corners.
Now it lives in 4k high-definition.
In your feed.
In your memory.
In your hand.
This is not neutral tech—it’s a war zone.
And most believers are sleepwalking across a minefield.
The ancient seductress of Proverbs hasn’t died.
She’s digitized.
She whispers through thumbnails, pop-ups, DMs, and scrolls.
And every time you entertain her, you hand her a match and sit on a pile of straw.
You think you’re strong?
Then why are you still fantasizing?
Why do you keep going back for a second look?
The enemy isn’t trying to get your attention—he is trying to get between you and God.
That’s why Joseph RAN.
He didn’t pray about it.
He didn’t rebuke it.
He fled—because he knew the cost.
He left his coat behind, but he kept his priesthood intact.
Ancient Wisdom: Temptation is Fire, Not a Puzzle
- St. John Cassian: “The second look is enslavement. It proves the first look was welcomed.”
- St. Isaac the Syrian: “The heart is an altar—what you place there becomes your offering.”
You were never called to manage lust.
You were called to kill it.
You were never told to argue with seduction.
You were told to flee it..
Daily Practice: Flee Like Joseph
- Burn the Bridge
- Go through your phone, your apps, your bookmarks.
- Delete anything that gives the enemy access.
- If an app presents images or words that temp you to sin, delete the app.
- Train for Avoidance: Look the other way
- God promises a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13).
- When tempted look away not toward, don't entertain —MOVE. Don’t think. Don’t wait. Turn away from temptation.
- Flood the Altar
- Lust is a drought of the Spirit.
- Flood your heart with scripture, worship songs, and prayer.
- Replace the lies with fire—until your appetite is burned clean.
- Think about how God sees this sin.
